Does TRICARE cover ABA therapy in Maryland?
Yes. TRICARE covers ABA through the Comprehensive Autism Care Demonstration, a program that has run since 2014 and is currently authorized through December 31, 2028. It is a benefit of its own, separate from the basic TRICARE medical benefit, open to qualifying family members of active duty service members, retirees, and certain National Guard and Reserve members who are enrolled in a TRICARE health plan and have an autism diagnosis from an approved provider.

We confirm your TRICARE enrollment, your child's Autism Care Demonstration eligibility, and any referral requirements, then tell you what we found in plain English before you commit to anything.
Authorization under the demonstration
We assemble the diagnosis records and assessment paperwork the demonstration requires and submit the authorization request, keeping you posted while it processes.
Sessions and billing
Once approved, sessions begin in your home and we bill TRICARE directly. On statements you may see CPT 97151 (the assessment), 97153 (one-on-one therapy), 97155 (BCBA plan adjustments), and 97156 (parent training).
Reauthorization every six months
Authorizations renew on six-month cycles with updated assessments and progress data. We manage the calendar and the paperwork so renewals never sneak up on your family.
