Who we are

Terrapin ABA ("we," "us") provides in-home ABA therapy for children with autism across central Maryland. This policy explains what information we collect through terrapinaba.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to this website; information collected once you become a client is additionally protected as described below.

Information you give us

When you submit our consultation form, we collect what you enter: your name, phone number, email address, ZIP code, your child's age, your insurance provider, diagnosis status, and anything you write in the message field. When you call, text, or email us, we receive the information you share in that conversation.

Our forms are processed by JotForm using its HIPAA-enabled service, and submissions are transmitted over encrypted connections. The ZIP code checker on our homepage runs entirely in your browser; it does not send or store what you type.

How we use it

• To respond to your inquiry and schedule your free consultation
• To verify insurance benefits you ask us to check
• To communicate with you about services, scheduling, and next steps
• To understand, in aggregate, how families find us (for example, whether an inquiry came from our homepage or a search ad)

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Health information and HIPAA

Once your family becomes a client, health information we create or receive in providing services is protected health information under HIPAA, and it is handled according to our Notice of Privacy Practices, which you receive at intake. Website form submissions are handled through a HIPAA-enabled form processor as described above. Please avoid including detailed medical history in the website form; the consultation call is the right place for that conversation.

Text messaging

If you provide your phone number, we may call or text you about your inquiry. Reply STOP to any text to opt out of texting; we will still reach you by the other contact details you provided.

Cookies, analytics, and advertising

Our website may use Google Analytics to understand site usage and Google Ads conversion measurement to understand which advertising brings families to us. These tools use cookies or similar identifiers and collect information such as pages visited and approximate location derived from your IP address. They do not receive anything you type into our forms. If you arrive from a link with campaign tags (for example, from an ad), we store those tags in your browser so we know how you found us if you later submit the form.

You can limit analytics cookies through your browser settings or Google's opt-out tools at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Service providers

We use a small number of vendors to run this website and our intake process, including JotForm (form processing) and Netlify (website hosting). They process information on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

Retention

We keep inquiry information for as long as needed to respond to you and to meet our legal and professional record-keeping obligations. Client records are retained as required by Maryland law and payer requirements.

Your choices

• You may ask us what information we hold about your inquiry, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, subject to legal record-keeping requirements
• You may opt out of texting at any time by replying STOP
• You may contact us with any privacy question or concern

Children's privacy

Our website is intended for parents and caregivers, not for children. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children online; information about a child is provided to us by their parent or guardian.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.
