Getting a diagnosis
Kennedy Krieger's Center for Autism Services, Science and Innovation (CASSI) in Baltimore takes new referrals at (888) 554-2080. The Center for Autism at Sheppard Pratt in Towson, (410) 938-5000, also evaluates children, though it is private pay and does not bill insurance.
Parent organizations
Pathfinders for Autism answers a free statewide helpline at (443) 330-5341 for autism questions and referrals. The Arc of Carroll County, (410) 848-4124, is on Kriders Church Road in Westminster and supports people with developmental disabilities and their families.
Support inside CCPS
CCPS Family Support Services, (410) 751-3955, is based at Carroll Springs School on South Center Street in Westminster and helps parents work through the special education process. The county's SECAC also welcomes parent voices at SECAC@carrollk12.org.
Adaptive recreation
Carroll County Recreation and Parks runs Adaptive Recreation programs, from adaptive bowling at Greenmount Bowl to a Therapeutic Recreation Day; register at (410) 386-2103.
