Ready for day one

School readiness that starts at home.

The routines, the raised hand, the line at the door. We help your child walk in on day one already knowing the moves.

Preparing for the classroom

Practice the school day before the school day.

Classrooms ask a lot of small kids: sit for circle time, follow directions given to the whole group, line up, wait, raise a hand. For many children with autism, those expectations land all at once on the first morning. This program spreads them out ahead of time, so the rhythms of school feel familiar before the backpack ever goes on.

A BCBA designs the program around your child's specific needs, and a behavior technician practices the skills in your home, where mistakes are safe and repetition is easy.

  • Transitions, sitting, and attending
  • Self-help skills and asking teachers for help
Is this your family?

Who this program is for.

Starting school soon

Preschool or kindergarten is on the calendar, and you want the first weeks to feel familiar instead of overwhelming.

Transitions are tough

Moving from play to cleanup, or from home to car, brings resistance or tears. Classrooms are full of these moments, so we practice them ahead of time.

An IEP is in the works

You are navigating evaluations and meetings. We back you up with data and plain-language summaries, and you stay in the lead.

Inside the program

What the work looks like.

1

Assess where things stand

A BCBA uses standardized assessments such as the Vineland-3 and VB-MAPP, with a close look at classroom-relevant skills.

2

Build the plan

Goals cover group directions, routines, transitions, sitting and attending, and self-help skills, each with a baseline and mastery criteria.

3

Practice the school day

Sessions rehearse real routines at home: circle-time style activities, cleanup, snack and bathroom routines, asking a grown-up for help.

4

Connect it to school

We plan for generalization beyond the living room and, with your permission, share progress with your child's preschool or IEP team. You lead; we support.

Covered by insurance

School readiness goals are written into a standard ABA treatment plan, so coverage works the way it does for ABA therapy overall. We work with Maryland Medicaid, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and other major plans, and we verify your benefits for free before anything begins.

On your explanation of benefits, the initial assessment appears as CPT code 97151 and direct one-on-one sessions as 97153. For plan details, start with our insurance page or just call us.

Questions, answered

What parents ask about this program.

Many families begin a few months before a school transition so there is time to practice routines and build skills step by step. There is no wrong time, though. We meet your child where they are, whether school starts next fall or next month.
Yes, with your permission. You lead every conversation with the school; we support you with clear data, plain-language goal summaries, and progress notes you can bring to meetings. We complement school services rather than replace them.
The skills classrooms run on: following instructions given to a group, moving through transitions, sitting and attending during an activity, raising a hand and asking for help, and self-help skills like managing a backpack, snack time, and bathroom routines.
Every goal starts from a measured baseline and carries specific mastery criteria, so progress shows up in data, not just impressions. The supervising BCBA reviews the plan continuously and documents a formal review at least every 30 days.

Let's make the first day feel like the tenth.

Tell us where your child is now and what school will ask of them. The consultation is free, and there is no pressure.
