BCPS and Child Find
The Baltimore County Public Schools Department of Special Education main line is (443) 809-3660. For young children, Child Find evaluations run through four regional assessment centers, including a Central office at (443) 809-5382.
Birth to three
The Baltimore County Infants and Toddlers Program, run through BCPS with a single point of entry at (443) 809-2169, provides free early intervention before age three. We can help you plan the handoff to preschool services.
Getting a diagnosis
Kennedy Krieger's Center for Autism Services, Science and Innovation (CASSI) in Baltimore takes new evaluation referrals at (888) 554-2080. The Center for Autism at Sheppard Pratt sits on North Charles Street in Towson, (410) 938-5000; note its evaluations are private pay, not billed to insurance.
Parent organizations
Pathfinders for Autism answers a free helpline at (443) 330-5341 from its Timonium office, a few minutes north. The Arc Baltimore, (410) 296-2272, serves county families, and the BCPS Special Education Citizen Advisory Committee, via (443) 809-4554, gives parents a seat at the table.
Military families
Aberdeen Proving Ground borders northeastern Baltimore County, and Fort Meade is a commute many county families make. EFMP offices are (410) 278-2420 at APG and (301) 677-5590 at Fort Meade, and we serve TRICARE families through the Autism Care Demonstration.
Sensory-friendly outings
Baltimore County Public Library hosts Sensory Story Time at branches including Perry Hall, Rosedale, and Woodlawn. A short drive south, Port Discovery, the Maryland Zoo, and the National Aquarium all run certified sensory-inclusive programs.
